Literature Text

Smiling does the trick,
Most of the time.
Nobody wants to see the
Corners, where hand-sewn,
Crude stitches hold it together.

Can I get a volunteer?
Someone from the crowd,
Who'd like to take part
In the biggest, most overdone
Hoax in all of our human existence?

If the grin grows as it cracks,
Take the needle you have reserved
For your suicide eye.
Cross-stitch the fabric you
Call your "appeal" --
Your plush of a heart.

And continue to amass
The (seemingly) astonished
(admonished) applause
From your rag doll performance.
More smiles, in exchange for
Every truth that you seal
into shut-in corners...
Tight-lipped tricks.
